Every year, men leaving incarceration, addiction, homelessness or other life instabilities face overwhelming barriers to rebuilding their lives. Last year, more than 12,000 people in South Carolina reported experiencing homelessness. More than half of those struggle with a disabling condition such as physical disabilities, alcohol or drug addiction, or mental health disorders. Without stable housing, accountability, employment support and a healthy community, many of these men fall back into cycles of relapse, recidivism, and despair.
Since 1963, Providence Home has been a Christ-centered transitional home providing a place of hope and healing. Through the transforming power of the Gospel, we help men renew their mind, body and spirit, rebuild relationships, and reintegrate into the community as healthy, productive citizens. Men are breaking cycles of addiction and incarceration, growing in their faith, and securing full-time employment. The ripple effect is powerful: stronger families, safer communities, and stories of redemption that point back to God’s faithfulness.
Success At Providence Home
Before I came to Providence Home, I was to the point of giving up. 25 years, 2 months, 14 days in prison on a life sentence. I hadn't talked to my family in 25 years. It was my fault for the hurt I caused.
Nobody would take me in - until Providence Home said yes. God and Providence Home saved this sinner's life. I've learned the fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge. I want to give more of myself to God because of all the loving kindness they give to all the residents here.
