While assisting the men that come to us at Providence Home, we apply a holistic approach treatment designed to intentionally restore the whole man – mind, body, and soul. We offer more than just a shelter or hot meals. In fact, Providence Home is a facility unlike any other in the state, being Christ-centered and with a unique blend of services, accountability, structure, freedom, and expectations.
Based on long-term recovery and sustainability, our program offers these Holistic services:
Counseling – Pastoral and Clinical
Medical and Dental Care
Trauma-based Recovery Programming
Our staff, volunteers, and partners dedicate their time and passion to helping men refocus their lives with new purpose and direction.
We believe our source of victory comes from God through Jesus Christ. Jude 24-25 says, “To Him who is able to keep you from stumbling and to present you before his glorious presence without fault and with great joy— to the only God our Savior be glory, majesty, power and authority, through Jesus Christ our Lord, before all ages, now and forevermore! Amen.”

Trauma-Based Recovery Curriculum
At Providence Home, we offer more than just a place for recovery. We offer tools for healing from trauma. More often than not, we find some kind of trauma at the root of substance abuse, addiction, and crime. Often addicts and men who have previously been incarcerated are attempting to disassociate and disconnect from negative thinking and painful or difficult life experiences. Through partnerships using a trauma-based recovery curriculum for therapy, we help our residents go from coping with unresolved trauma and stress through drugs or alcohol abuse to living a life free from dependency.
At Providence Home, our residents are free to come and go as they please within the confines of our program. Providence Home is within walking distance of many services and conveniently located on The Comet bus line provided by Central Midlands Regional Transit Authority. Currently, all bus line transportation is free during the Covid-19 season. Providence Home also provides limited transportation services when The Comet, walking, or other options are not available to a resident. Having reliable and easily accessible transportation options whenever they need it gives our residents a sense of both security and independence.
While living at Providence Home, we do everything we can to help our residents to create a healthy path for moving forward. This includes providing access to free legal counsel with local attorneys who care and can help. For legal matters regarding parole, and family law, including divorce and separation, child support, visitation, and custody, and more, our partner attorneys offer legal advice and assistance to help residents get back on their feet.
As a resident of Providence Home, each man is responsible for a portion of his care and stay. Once a resident secures income, we ask that he contribute $100 per week for his room and board. Our team assists our residents, with the help of partners and volunteers, in creating and distributing resumes and cover letters, and connecting them to employers. We help our residents integrate back into the workforce and become the best employees they can be.
One of the extra benefits of living at Providence Home is access to professional dental hygiene and care. For many of our residents, dental care has been inaccessible or neglected, for months, if not years, often resulting in extreme dental problems, such as periodontal disease and a complete lack of teeth. This may be a significant barrier in their search for employment. Through our partners, residents can not only regain a healthy smile, they can gain confidence and joy in smiling!
With a focus on healthy living, we help each man care for himself, mind, body, and spirit, and that includes taking care of his teeth!
Our main objective at Providence Home is healthy living. We want our residents to pursue wellness of mind, body, and spirit. That is why we have partners who provide free access to healthcare for physical illnesses and injuries as well as mental health. With understanding and compassionate doctors who can help, our residents can gain hope for moving forward into a life of all-encompassing health and wellness.
In addition to attending chapel 5 days a week, we also encourage each of our residents to seek further knowledge and understanding of the Gospel and the life-changing power of Jesus Christ through group Bible studies. These devotional groups are based on availability and are peer and mentor-led. During group Bible study times, men will have the opportunity to ask questions, discuss, and share portions of their lives and how they are being transformed in a safe and understanding place with other men that live at Providence Home.
